Blood Junkie

Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, Blood Junkie is a throwback-to-the-80s slasher that both takes place in 1989 and feels like it was made then as well. Director Drew Rosas creates a world that captures synthy, bloody late '80s nostalgia nearly perfectly. While we didn't love the twist ending, we had an awesome time watching this flick. The gore is a little cheesy and the gratuitious nudity is sparing, but Blood Junkie is a great treat for anyone who loved Gutterballs for the non-sleaze reasons.
The story follows two girls Laura and Rachel who decide to head off for a weekend of boozing and smooching with two local mullet-rocking dudes who they just met. Of course, Laura's parents being out of town and all, they have to drag her nerdly little brother along for the ride too. Beer is drunk, boobs are exposed, spliffs are smoked, but when they discover an abandoned research facility where a gruseome accident supposedly took place many years before... well, the blood hits the fan.
Really for fans of horror comedies rather than straight up horror, Blood Junkie will definitely bring out the smiles with its synthy soundtrack, subtly hilarious dialogue and even more hilarious hairstyles. A really good time that could have been elevated to classic level if it only had a little more sleaze.
