Tom Grayson is a horror filmmaker, who likes to play by the purists' book -- that is, he doesn't like frills like gore or nudity in his horror movies. Danny Wilson is a fan of Tom's, who has gotten approval to document the creation of Tom's latest film. After an altercation between Tom and his leading lady, Ashley, Danny takes the opportunity to try a filmmaking experiment of his own.
He invites Tom over and presents his scenario to him. That is, he takes Tom into his garage, where he has Ashley bound and gagged. He encourages Tom to film the bound actress as Danny torments her -- promising Tom that they are merely doing this to elicit a genuine, shocking performance from an otherwise stubborn actress.
Tom is intrigued until Danny gets a little too rough with her, at which point Danny forces Tom to continue filming the experiment.
After that point, tragic incidents and hidden agendas reveal an experiment of a new kind.
