The True Story of the Nun of Monza (1980)

The True Story of the Nun of Monza (1980)

Bruno Mattei’s The True Story of the Nun of Monza (La vera storia della monaca di Monza) might not be the sleaziest nunsploitation movie ever made, but it’s plenty sleazy enough.

Virginia de Leyva is heiress to the feudal domains, and title, of the lord of Monza. For some obscure reason her family has decided she should enter a convent, and the Church receives a very handsome amount of money for approving the deal.

Fright Night (1985)

Easily the best vampire movie starring Amanda Bearse of Married With Children fame. This 80’s cheese fest is radical dude. With a huge tribute to Vincent Price this movie is not only a classic, but also a horror buffs delight. This is my absolute favorite vampire movie. Of All TIME.

Screamtime (1986)

Screamtime is a bit of an unknown UK horror anthology that completely went under my radar until I saw it featured on Netflix. Being a fan of 80's anthologies and reading about one of the segments concerning killer gnomes(!), I immediately gave it a watch. Sadly, it wasn't as I had hoped it'd be, since not only did it feature a lot of horrendous acting and dialogue, but it was also painstakingly boring to sit through. The film starts off with a couple heavily-accented New Yorkers swiping a few horror VHS tapes from a video store and bringing them over to a female friend's house to watch. This is our poorly implemented wraparound story that has the two wannabe hoodlums watching each tape, which introduces the viewer to the individual stories. This silly wraparound ends in one of the most ridiculous and random fashions I've seen for an anthology. "That's The Way To Do It" 4/10 This segment revolves around an aged puppeteer, who despite continuing to entertain the local children, fails to bring proper income to support his family. The man simply refuses to give up what he loves, resulting in a bitter wife that wants to move, and an asshole

POLTERGEIST 1982

Review
While living an an average family house in a pleasant neighborhood, the youngest daughter of the Freeling family, Carol Anne, seems to be connecting with the supernatural through a dead channel on the television. It is not for long when the mysterious beings enter the house's walls. At first seeming like harmless ghosts, they play tricks and amuse the family, but they take a nasty turn- they horrify the family to death with angry trees and murderous dolls, and finally abduct Carol Anne into her bedroom closet, which seems like the entrance to the other side.
